Guests are welcome to stay around and use the facilities in the cottage during the day and we can serve teas/coffees and light snacks. It is possible to request reiki, shiatsu or massage sessions in our beautifully converted treatment room. There is a hatha yoga class on Wednesday evenings that guests are free to attend.

There is also plenty to do outside.

The walks, in all directions, are superb.

There are some excellent low level walks directly from Nab Cottage:

Along the coffin track to Rydal waterfalls, across Loughrigg terrace to Rydal caves, around the lake, along the river and back at White Moss, down the back lane to Wordsworth’s home at Dove cottage…..

It’s possible too to walk along the river into Ambleside or around Grasmere lake into Grasmere village.

Also from the cottage are plenty of challenging fell walks: Fairfield horseshoe, Red Screes, Langdale, the Dodds and Helvellyn.

There is direct access to Rydal Water just across the road from the cottage and we have a Canadian canoe guests can use. Fishing permits can be bought in Ambleside.

Rydal village is 500m along the lake. Rydal Hall with its wonderful gardens is open to the public as is Rydal Mount. There is an excellent local pub, the Badger bar, which serves food all day.

Ambleside and Grasmere villages are 2 miles away in each direction. There is a huge range of restaurants, galleries, and shops. In Ambleside there are 4 cinema screens, the Armitt museum, 2 spa /swimming pool centres, and boating on Windermere lake.
